Soap & Glory gets PINK’d!

Not that Soap & Glory has ever needed an excuse for a celebration but summer 2021 saw not one but two reasons to be popping bottles, cutting cake and taking to the dancefloor.

On the eve of its 15th birthday, Soap & Glory partnered with X-Rite, third party leader in color management, measurement and control, to create a new, bespoke pink. That’s right, 15 years old AND for the first time ever with its own bespoke, clearly specified and ownable brand color – pretty major!

Instantly recognisable and loved by many, Soap & Glory’s pink plays a key role in drawing consumers to its products on shelves across the world. Getting the pink just right and ensuring that it matches consistently between every printed packaging format on shelf is key for brand awareness and consumer engagement.

Global Brand Manager, Claire Lee comments:
“In 2006 when we launched, we were all about affordable luxury beauty. Really efficacious products with tongue-in-cheek names in equally fun and clever, retro-esque pink packaging - instantly recognisable on shelves around the world. The brand packaging and visual identity have always been equally as important as the products themselves.”

In 2021, Soap & Glory launched its BVI refresh; a huge piece of work that looked to future proof designs and set guidelines for NPD; ensuring consistency of how Soap & Glory shows up globally.

With the pink being a key factor, Soap & Glory partnered with X-Rite Pantone, third party leader in color management, measurement and control, to create a new, bespoke pink.

Previously, Soap & Glory used a physical reference to communicate color expectations and get quick alignment from print suppliers. Based on Pantone 701C initially this Pantone color reference helped simplify brand color communication for print suppliers but over time, we noticed a lack of color consistency across printed packaging, point of sale, merchandising, and marketing materials.

A gloriously digital solution
Technology was the key to digitising and streamlining Soap & Glory’s color management process.

Working with the team at X-Rite Pantone, Soap & Glory selected a new, bespoke pink in exactly the shade they wanted as part of a brand visual identity (BVI) re-design.
Soap & Glory pink is now a clearly specified brand color. It’s been digitally defined by X-Rite and uploaded into the PantoneLIVE cloud for access by everyone in the design, artwork creation, and packaging production workflow.

It’s a fabulous addition as Craig Davids, Global Artwork and Print Manager – No7 Beauty Company explains:

“Moving from physical color references and visual evaluation to a digital color program has dramatically improved Soap & Glory’s printed packaging color consistency. Instead of spending time and money relating to the subjective acceptance or rejection of printed colors from Soap & Glory printers from around the world, we can now monitor print quality across multiple sites through X-Rite Pantone’s connected software solutions. Giving printers ownership over print quality means they don’t ship if color isn’t right, preserving our brand identity on the shelf. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

Huge congratulations to the team at Soap & Glory on such a momentous achievement and…HAPPY 15TH BIRTHDAY!!

Now, can someone pass the cake?
