New York & London, UK, April 19, 2021 – No7 Beauty Company today launches its inaugural ‘Beautifully Informed’ report; an in-depth analysis of today’s beauty shopping habits, behaviours and attitudes, including how they have been shaped by Covid-19.  The report also sets out the key trends and innovations predicted to shape the beauty industry in the future.

Underscoring the role that beauty brands play in enhancing self-esteem, improving mental health, supporting inclusivity, and reframing conversations around beauty, the report reveals that 87% of women feel more confident if they look good, while 75% of women agree  that beauty and personal care products have a positive impact on their mental wellbeing.

The report reveals how Covid-19 has accelerated already changing beauty behaviours, as people have had time to refocus on their skin and have developed better skincare regimes. This surge in skincare is reflected in how serums have become a mainstay of people’s beauty routines, with some 2.9 million people buying a serum in the past 12 months in the UK alone .  In fact, No7’s Line Correcting Booster Serum soared to become the brand’s second best-selling skincare product on Boots.com . For the first time, online facial skincare sales eclipsed offline facial skincare sales last year with the average consumer spending more on skincare than any other category in toiletries.

Looking to the future, the report identifies key trends and innovations impacting how people will consume beauty in 2021 and beyond.  Predictions include the growth of AI and AR tech in beauty, how blockchain technology will drive greater supply chain transparency as sustainability is re-prioritized, and the innovative new solutions expected in-store as hygienic practices remain paramount.

Mark Winter, Managing Director, No7 Beauty Company, comments, “As part of Walgreens Boots Alliance, we have unrivalled access to customer data and insights, making us uniquely placed to understand how the beauty industry is changing and evolving, and how consumers want to experience and enjoy beauty products. This report draws on some of that proprietary data and provides fascinating insights into people’s relationship with beauty today, and how we expect this to evolve and change in the future.”
