As Cleanse & Polish™ Hot Cloth Cleanser achieves its 140th UK award - we look back at the history of this iconic product.
Cleanse & Polish was the brand’s real eureka moment. One of the first two-phase cleansers and unlike anything that the industry had ever seen before, this revolutionary product continues to deliver great results for all ages and skin types – affordable luxury that really does deliver on its promise!
Our story begins in 1995 when co-founders Liz Earle, an author and botanical beauty authority, and Kim Buckland, a skincare industry expert, united in their quest to find beauty that would suit their different skin types. Frustrated with the skincare available, they decided to create their own. While Liz and Kim are no longer part of Liz Earle Beauty Co., we continue to uphold the principles they set out from day one.
We recently made our beloved Cleanse & Polish™ available in easy-to-recycle plastic tubes, that are also made using 55% post-consumer recycled plastic – so when it’s time to say goodbye to your latest tube, who knows, you may even meet again! This is just the beginning, as we are going to be making further steps to bring more and more post-consumer recycled materials into our range.

It was 2000 when we received our very first award, 5 years after launch and it was the start of something really special.
2010 was a record-breaking year when Cleanse & Polish™ collected an amazing 16 awards.
And in 2018 we won the vogue lifetime achievement award at the first ever Vogue Beauty Awards!
So now in 2021 we can celebrate yet another milestone as we accept our 140th award.
